April Update

Hello VCE Families!
Welcome back everyone! I truly hope you had a relaxing but fun Spring Break. It is hard to believe that we are in our last three months of school. Please keep connected with your child's teacher on upcoming learning, field trips and important information. In order to make field trips happen, we need volunteers! Please help us by getting up to date criminal record checks on file at the school.
As many of you know, our valued custodian Trevor passed away over the break. I want to thank you for having this hard but important conversation at home as we have done here and will continue to do so when appropriate. Over the coming weeks, we will continue to honour and remember Trevor. Our community has suffered a sad loss but we will support each other through this.
Please see a contribution of remembrance for Trevor from one of our classes below:

Classroom Learning in Action

This month's spotlight:

Ms. Bourdon/Ms. Brant's (Grade 2/3)

Division 5 (grade 2/3) has been participating in weekly learning sessions with Tiffany, our guest outdoor educator.  Students have been learning about bird songs, how and what birds eat and how to recognize various plants and animals that live in our area and outdoor classroom.  Students have enjoyed playing games, exploring stations and using tools such as binoculars and magnifying glasses to learn more about nature in our own backyard.

Are you planning on moving to a new school next year? Please let us know by emailing [email protected] so that we can plan for next year.

New VCE Communicable Disease Plan

Please note that our Communicable Disease Plan has been recently modified. The most current version can be found here.

Playground Makeover

The students are working on ideas to give the playground a make-over and add some new equipment.

While they are working on the plans we wanted to kick off some fundraising starting with a returnables/bottle drive.

Drop your recyclables at the express drop off using 604-561-4900 for the VCE PAC or text 604-561-4900 or email [email protected] with your address for pick up.
