2022 October 28
It sure rained on Thursday! Luckily I was outfitted with rubber boots and an umbrella as I watched all the engineers building rivers and dams all over the schoolyard. If your child needs help getting rain gear and boots, please let us know; we have a supply. Also, it might be helpful to send your child with a change of socks and maybe pants too.
School Supplies:
If you have not already paid your school supply fees, please do so by logging into school cash online or you can bring $45 to your classroom teacher. Currently, we are short $3300.
Students Leaving the School:
Please remember to sign out your child if you remove them from the building. This is important during long recess as well. If we have an emergency we need to account for all students.
Hot Lunches:
Hot lunches are available for ordering at https://valleycliffepac.hotlunches.net/admin/ for our next two Hot Lunch days!
- Thursday, November 3rd will be Noodlebox (ordering closed October 26). Please send a fork to school on this Hot Lunch day so we can avoid using disposable utensils! We will send a reminder the day before.
- December 1st will be Subway (ordering closes at the end of the day on November 23).
Just a reminder that our hot lunch program is a fundraiser for the PAC, so all items are by donation. When you place your order, select the food items you want along with the donation amount of your choice. You can pay by PayPal, e-transfer (please indicate “hot lunch” and the student’s name in the message), or cash. Thank you so much for supporting our PAC!
If you haven’t registered on the Hot Lunch website, use the access code “VCHL” on the website above to sign up. Simply add your students and their classes so you can place their orders. If you have any questions about the Hot Lunch program or need help registering or ordering, please contact Pamela at [email protected].
Halloween Parade:
This year we will be having a Halloween costume parade in the Gym at 9:45am on Monday, October 31. Students who wish to participate in the parade should come to school dressed in their costume. We’re looking forward to seeing all the great costumes!
Please do not send your child with anything that is considered a weapon or a weapon replica. Also, you may wish to send your child to school with a change of clothes in case they want to change. Some children have damaged their costumes during recess – just something to think about.
Cross Country Running:
The runners did a fabulous job at their race in Whistler last week. Each of the 23 runners completed the long and difficult course, which included a number of hills. We even had a number of top 5 finishes! We are super proud of our Valleycliffe Elementary cross-country team this season as they represented our school. Our final race of this season is on Thursday, November 3rd at Squamish Elementary at 3:30pm.
SPIRIT WEAR
Spirit wear is ready for orders for the whole family. Using the hot lunch system you can order VCE spirit wear up until November 4th. Options include school coloured hoodies. There is a regular Hoodie in Gold/Yellow, Navy Blue or Royal Blue with a large white school logo on front. And by request a Zip Up Hoodies in Navy Blue and Royal Blue with a small school logo on the left chest. Sizes run child small to XL and adult small to XXL.
If you still need an account -simply go to Valleycliffepac.hotlunches.net and use code VCHL. Contact Julie at [email protected] with questions.

Library News
Last week we looked into bears as they have been out and about in the community. Many classes learned where to find informational/non-fiction books on bears using the Dewey Decimal Number 599. They sorted all of the animal books in this section and put the Bear books up on display (shelf at back near the loft). The fiction bear books are at the front in a bin.
This week is a focus on Digital Literacy and the technology section of the Dewey Decimal System. Students will be learning how to be a safe digital citizen.
Next week we’ll have the Remembrance Day books out and advertise the student poster/poem contest from the Legion.
